Industry LSGL Analysis of Employment Growth in County Economies: 2001-2010
Among the prominent questions that inevitably arise when the economic performance of a state economy is discussed are:
  • How have the major industry sectors in the state grown overall, both recently...and longer term?
  • What industries have most consistently lead in this growth?
  • What are those industries that have most generally and persistently lagged?
  • Are there some industry sectors that have recently gained by posting growth above par, in contrast to their more general subpar performance in the past?
  • What are the industry sectors that have more generally outperformed the overall industry average in the past, but that have more recently slipped?
In this Wyoming Regional Economic Analysis Project report you are invited to use and apply the LSGL framework of industry analysis to guide your investigation in addressing these questions for any county you choose. LSGL analysis is a particularly handy and versatile device for diagnosing the short vs. long-term growth and performance of the portfolio of the individual industries that comprise, contributed to, and detracted from, the overall average growth of employment within any county of interest to you. You may also use this tool to select a specific industry sector whose growth and performance within the LSGL framework you wish to feature and highlight in a resulting report.
Directions:
  1. First, using the map above or the menu on the right, select the state you wish to research and investigate.
  2. Second, select a specific industry sector you wish to feature and highlight in the resulting report or select "Skip & Display Report"

    About LSGL Analysis
"LSGL Analysis" is the moniker introduced on this Wyoming Regional Economic Analysis Project website to characterize the technique we have adapted and borrowed from one that appears in the weekend finance sections of the popular press. In the press, for example, one rendition of this approach compares and classifies the market performance of the 30 stocks contained in the Dow over the past week, in contrast to their performance over the past month. The Dow's overall respective averages over the past week vs. the past month are the two key points of reference for judging the performance of the 30 individual securities comprising the Dow as Leading, Slipping, Gaining or Lagging.
